Today, archaeological work is directly related to geodesy throughout the entire research cycle: from the search for archaeological monuments to the interpretation of data obtained during excavations. With the use of remote sensing data, reconnaissance is carried out and archaeological reconnaissance routes are drawn up, new monuments are searched for and the boundaries of those already found are clarified. Breaking out works, laying of excavations, fixing of the received materials are often realized with the help of total stations and GNSS. The article reveals the possibilities of using modern geodetic technologies in the excavation of archaeological monument on the example of the object of cultural heritage "Mound "Mikhailovsky cordon".
